The Feminist Institute is a scientific centre which belongs to Complutense University of Madrid. Our Institute has an Interdisciplinary and Interfaculty character. Is dedicated to research and teach in higher education, focused on gender, women’s studies and feminism field.
The Feminist Studies Institute was approved by the University board council in 1988. Since that date our centre has been developing activities continuously. The main Institute objective is the feminist thinking creation and spreading, as well as the gender studies. This is that women’s and their scientific contribution has an adequate and fair presence in University, encouraging the social equality.
During these years the Institute has carried out their work through the creation and preservation of the interdisciplinares researching scientific teams in the feminist and gender studies field. Currently maintains a monographic publishing and scientific magazine: Feminist Researching.
Regarding teaching, the Institute offers a non official studies, Specialist Degree: Agent in gender- based violence detection and prevention and an official Master Degree in Feminist Studies, as well as workshops, seminars, conferences and congress.
The Institute Council is consisting of seventy five professors from to the university field as outside of it. Focused on joint works from the own university with others from non universitary cultural and social institutions.
